Airlines, Restaurants, and Grab All Raise Prices as Oil Shock Ripples Through Thailand

When your flight, your dinner, your Grab ride, and your online shopping all cost more in the same week, the oil crisis has officially become an everything crisis.

Everything Gets More Expensive

Rising global oil prices linked to Middle East tensions are pushing up fuel and logistics costs across Thailand, prompting fare increases in airlines, restaurants, and e-commerce delivery, according to Nation Thailand. The cost transmission is rapid and universal — no sector is escaping the impact.

Cambodia is also feeling the pressure. A major LPG supplier halted sales from April 1, deepening fuel pressure on Cambodian households and public transport, as reported by Nation Thailand. The regional dimension of this crisis is becoming clearer by the day.

New Ride-Hailing Rules

Thailand's new regulations for app-based ride-hailing take effect March 31, requiring drivers to hold public licences, use correctly registered vehicles, and pass platform checks, according to Nation Thailand. The rules bring structure to a sector that's grown faster than the regulations governing it.

For passengers, the immediate concern isn't regulation but price. If drivers face higher compliance costs on top of higher fuel costs, fares can only go one direction.
